Homeschooling has become increasingly mainstream in recent years, and homeschooling families are increasingly diverse. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, reasons include concerns about the safety of the school environment (drugs, discipline, bullying), dissatisfaction with instruction and/or curriculum, religious reasons, and illness or disability. Other factors include the pandemic experience as well as the availability of an abundance of materials and curricula online.
Libraries are an invaluable resource for homeschooling families, providing access to physical and digital materials, meet-ups, programs, and other assistance.
