Introduction

Ethnically Diverse Poets

April 2021

Launched by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month reminds the public that poets of all ethnic origins have an integral role to play in our culture and that poetry matters. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with tens of millions of readers, marking poetry's important place in our lives. In 2021, the Academy of American Poets celebrates the poetic voices of diversity as well as the 25th Anniversary of this significant annual celebration.  Explore the poignant and vigorous works of these ethnically diverse poets in this compilation.
